•Grace opposes effort…
We don’t work hard for grace, but because of grace. Because of the gospel we are not motivated by guilt, but by gratitude. (Philippians 2:12-13)

•Grace is for Godly people…
Remember, God doesn’t love good people, but His love makes people good. Grace is for ungodly people, but it transforms them into Godly people.

•Grace is God letting up on His standards…
Grace is not God letting up on His law, but sending His Son to fulfill it. Jesus lived a perfect life, keeping the covenant and fulfilling the law where God’s people had previously failed. (Matthew 5:17; Romans 10:4)

Misconceptions of Grace
• Grace is permission to sin…
Grace is not permission to sin; it is the power to overcome sin. By grace, God forgives sin and transforms sinners into saints. Holiness is not a prerequisite for grace; it is a product of grace. (Romans 6:1-3)

Three thoughts on grace
1. Grace is the favor of God that gives us access to the Power of God for everything that we need for life and Godliness. (2 Peter 1:2-3)
2. Grace is different than mercy. Grace is the undeserved, unearned favor of God that gives access. Mercy is when we are released from the Judgement we deserve.
3. Grace is not a thing. Grace is not stuff that God gives us. Grace is God, Himself when we don’t deserve it. (John 1:14)
